Spring Semester 2021

Fall Semester’s precautions continued into the Spring, but we were able to continue limited ministry activities through the Spring without interruption. There was a brief period when we were limited to 20 in attendance at each of two BCM Worship gatherings, but that soon was raised to 50. Gatherings continued with masks and social distancing, but students have been acclimated to that reality.
A couple of our D-Groups met throughout the semester and we were able to have Spring Break SPOTS to Orange Beach, where we worked with Gulf Area Resort Ministries through the Baldwin Baptist Association. Much of our efforts were focused on cleaning up around their mission house.  On the last day, pancakes were prepared  and taken to nearby construction sites and given to the workers.
The semester ended with Spring Banquet and Formal. After a “virtual” banquet a year ago, BCM students were elated to be able to end the school year with an in-person event! We have high hopes for the Fall Semester ahead.

MissionLab at NOBTS through GenSend

Six students and campus minister Gary Brittain participated in a week-long project in New Orleans in May. We learned about the need for churches in the city of New Orleans and how church planters are making inroads with the gospel in communities. We worked with a food pantry, a thrift store/recovery ministry, a homeless ministry and distributed bottled water at University of New Orleans. This was accompanied by Bible study and worship, plus fellowship with students from a college ministry in Texas.
This project was sponsored through One Mission Students.

How Can You Help?

Last year we received funds to honor Joyce Scantland, who retired after serving for 38 years as BCM Secretary. At our last BCM Advisory Committee meeting, we voted to set up the Joyce Scantland Trust Fund with an initial $1,000.00 investment. The fund will be set up for BCM to receive interest income after the fund reaches $10,000.
If you would you like to contribute to this fund, click on "Give" at the top of this page, then follow the instructions. Make sure you select "Joyce Scantland Trust Fund" to designate your gift.
